When Beauty Becomes a Substitute for Truth

Christian homes may be full of careful instruction, beauty, and moral formation, yet still fail at the one thing necessary. When Scripture is treated as secondary and sin is softened into immaturity, children are trained in behavior without ever being brought to see their condition before a holy God. Christ is then presented not as the only remedy for sin, but as a means to improve life. This is not a harmless shift, it is a different gospel. For unless a child is brought to know his ruin, he will never know his need for grace, and any formation that leaves him there leaves him unreconciled to God.
